Tragedy struck in Modakeke community of Osun State on Saturday night when an aged woman, identified as Mrs Kolade Omolayo was burnt to death as fire razed a building located on Alapata Street in the ancient town.
A credible source informed the Tribune Online that the fire emanated from the late woman’s room.
The woman’s lantern which was filled with kerosene spilt its contents on the floor.

Her mattress got soaked by the kerosene in the process.
The deceased was said to have ignorantly struck a match, which led to fire incident that gutted the entire building.
It took the intervention of Osun State Fire Service Station at Lagere, Ile-Ife, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife Fire Service Station and residents of the area to put out the fire.
The aged woman was burnt to ashes while her remains have been gathered for burial.
Tribune Online gathered that two aged men survived the fire incident.
When contacted, the administrative officer of the Osun State Fire Service, Mr Fatai Aremu, confirmed the incident.
He said a quick response by men of the fire service in Lagere, Ile-Ife and OAU fire fighting unit aided the quenching of the raging fire.
