History was made again in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital when Kokodome, the family entertainment arena of the historic 25-storey Cocoa House, Nigeria’s first skyscraper built in Ibadan by the Government of the then Western Region led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in 1964, got its first Nigerian managers.
The dome has formally been taken over by KokoDome Plus Limited and in the 55-year history of the Oodua Investment Limited owned Kokodome which is now rebranded KokoDome Plus, this is the first time the leisure and entertainment arena will be managed by a wholly Nigerian owned company.
The former managers of Kokodome, Messrs Anison Unesco Limited relinquished the management of the facility which comprises of swimming pool, pool side bar, terrace lounge, restaurant and night club after 30 years of sustaining the leisure heritage within the heritage complex hosting the Heritage Mall in the Dugbe Central Business District of the cultural city of Ibadan.
The new management when taking over assured that Kokodome Plus will be rebranded, re-engineered and repositioned for quality service that will propel it back to leadership in the entertainment, hospitality and tourism market; emphasizing that the Kokodome heritage bequeathed to the new management is treasured and therefore will be guarded jealously and sustained for its loyal and new customers.
The General Manager, Mr. Aderemi Adedayo, on Friday stated that the new management promised to upgrade the facilities and services at KokoDome Plus to international standards that will position the family arena as a one stop shop for leisure and entertainment, noting that after 30 years of excellent and quality service by Messrs Anison Unesco, it is time for the new Nigerian managers to take the brand some notches higher in tune with current developments and offerings in the hospitality and tourism sector globally.
According to Adedayo, “the new management has initiated efforts at elevating the infrastructure and service at KokoDome Plus to mark the beginning of a new era while sustaining the legacy, heritage and dreams of the founding fathers of the leisuretainment centre for the entire family who will find something for each member to savour as well as corporate clients with a taste for refined recreation.”
