The Advertisers’ Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) has stated that it is presently embarking on strategic partnerships with prominent business schools and institutions of higher learning in Nigeria in order to reshape marketing education in the country.
The association, in a statement signed by its President, Osamede Uwubanmwen, explained that the ‘pioneering partnerships’ seek to bridge the gap between perception and reality in the field of marketing, enhance marketing students’ employability and advocate for contemporary and value-driven curricula, aligning academic learning with the industry’s dynamic needs.
The advertisers’ body further explained that the partnership between it and the academia will also dispel myths, provide students with real-world insights and equip them with practical skills that will boost their employment suitability in the competitive labour market.
The inaugural edition, scheduled for Thursday, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), will feature notable industry figures and thought leaders, such as the president of ADVAN, Uwabanmwen; Marketing Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, Pladis Global, Dr Omotola Bamigbaiye-Elatuyi and the professor of Marketing and Decision Sciences and Head of the Department of Business Administration, University of Lagos, Bolajoko Nkemdinim Dixton-Ogbechi, as keynote speakers.
