Abuja lawyer bags Prominent people’s award

Published by

An Abuja-based legal practitioner, Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi, has been honoured with the “Prominent People” award by Cornerstone Media.

Presenting the award to the Osun State-born lawyer, the Executive Director of Cornerstone Media, Mr. Ajibola Afolayan, said the recognition was for Olajengbesi’s contributions to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.

Afolayan described Olajengbesi, the principal partner of The Law Corridor, as a lawyer of great repute known for his activism in legal practice across the country.

He emphasised the importance of celebrating professionals excelling in their fields, noting that such recognition would inspire them to achieve more for the overall benefit of the nation.

He explained that the award followed a rigorous selection process by a jury. “After people are nominated, we have a jury that looks at their credentials to know if they are deserving of the award or not. If they are not deserving, they will not make our list.

“Anybody who made the list for the award knows that he or she deserved the award. The essence of the award is to bring out the best in people who are doing well in the profession,” he added.

In his response, Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi, who is also the convener of the Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocates (COPA) in Nigeria, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a call to further action in advancing the legal profession.

He urged lawyers to prioritise justice in their practice. “As lawyers, we need to serve the interest of justice in the defence of our clients,” Olajengbesi said, thanking Cornerstone Media for the honour.
