ABOLISHING the noon school by the Oyo State government at this crucial time in order to mitigate the rate of crime among the students who usually get involved in nefarious activities in their communities as there is nowhere for them to go early in the morning is a rational decision.
Apparently, the previous #EndSARS protest was empowered by the idle students who were not in their respective schools and their availability was explored by the miscreants to perpetrate evil in the society throughout the protest period. As a matter of fact, noon day schooling policy is an absurdity to the ethics of learning in the sense that the weather could have negative effects on students. Also, such policy encourages dereliction of duty as it paves way for indolence among teachers who earn full salaries.
The normal full day school hours will enable the teachers to cover the stipulated syllabus for the curriculums and it will enhance good performances of the students during examinations.
The verdict of the Oyo State government to end noon school in the pacesetter state is a welcome idea that will soon cut across other states of the federation.
