A man, Kasoki Olekanma, has pleaded with an Agege Customary Court in Lagos State, to dissolve his 15-year-old marriage.
He told court that he was no longer interested in the marriage after his wife allegedly deserted him and their four children.
Olekanma also claimed that his wife lacked respect and had also failed in her conjugal duties.
He told the court that his wife, Ibukun Olekanma, left home on February 11, 2013 of her own volition and that nobody had seen her since then.
He said that prior to the time Ibukun left home; she had told him that she had secured employment in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
“I asked her how the children will be taken care of in her absence but she told me to take care of them since I am used to doing that.”
The estranged husband also told court that he waited for Ibukun for three and half years but that she did not return home.
“The last time l heard from her was when the court served her summons.
“She abandoned me and the children without looking back,” Olekanma said
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported however, that Ibukun, who was absent in court sent a message that she was not interested in the matter and that dissolution could go ahead in her absence.
But her husband also made a demand that the respondent should stop using his name and that she must also refund the bride price of N10, 000.
President of the court, Mr Phillip Williams, adjourned the case till January 26 for hearing.
