Aare Musulumi advocates unity, national renewal

THE Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and around the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448 AH.

In a message issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Faysol Oluwakemi, to mark the occasion, Alhaji Akinola described the beginning of the new Islamic calendar as a period for reflection on the lessons of the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which exemplify faith, sacrifice, perseverance, patience and devotion to Allah.

The Muslim leader urged Muslims to embrace the values of righteousness, honesty, compassion and unity, noting that these virtues remain essential to individual growth, societal progress and national development.

He also called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country, particularly in view of the persistent security challenges confronting many communities across the nation.

According to him, divine intervention, coupled with collective responsibility and sincere commitment to nation-building, is necessary to restore lasting peace, security and stability in Nigeria.

The Aare Musulumi appealed to adherents of all faiths to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and understanding among one another.

He emphasised that national progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and cooperation among Muslims, Christians and people of other faiths.

Alhaji Akinola encouraged Muslims to use the new Islamic year as an opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Allah, support the less privileged and contribute to the development of their communities.

He prayed that Allah grant Nigeria peace, security, prosperity and unity while blessing the Muslim Ummah with good health, spiritual growth and abundant rewards throughout the year.
