
THE executive governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state to be patriotic and selfless in their activities.
He made this statement at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2019 batch B corps member at the permanent orientation camp, Ogbakuta, Iseyin, Oyo State.
Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the deputy governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan said the clarion call is to contribute their quota to the national development and Oyo State.
“This clarion call is for you to serve your fatherland with a consistent display of hard work, discipline and a quest to contribute your quota to the national development and Oyo State in particular.”
He further advised them to avail themselves by participating in camp activities and obeying the camp rules and regulations.

He also said, “The Oyo State government is determined to make a huge investment in youths. We will do everything within our capacity to ensure a conducive and secure environment during and after the orientation exercise.”
The Acting Permanent Secretary, who doubles as the Chairman NYSC Oyo State governing board, Mrs Ojo Adegoke, also assured the corps members of the warm reception and hospitality of the people of Oyo State during and after their service year.
She also advised them to participate in the SAED programme which will enable them to acquire relevant skills for self-empowerment.
The Oyo State NYSC coordinator, Eniola Ambekemo, in her welcome address said a total number of 2390 corps members were deployed to the state, which comprises 1130 males and 1260 females.
She implored the corps members to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) and also embrace each other’s culture especially the culture of their host communities.
“Records have shown the alarming rate of unemployment among graduate youths. To stem down this ugly development, I implore you to embrace Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme which is one of the course content of orientation exercise.
“For you to become self-reliant and employers of labour, you must participate actively in the SAED programme.”
The corps members were officially sworn in by Hon Justice Aderonke Aderemi, who represented the Chief Judge of Oyo State at the ceremony.
