The Acting Chief of Army, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has called for the continued support of the country’s citizens in order to overcome the security challenges facing the nation.
He made this statement on Sunday in Sokoto, the headquarters of the 8th Division, during his maiden operational visit since his appointment.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in the Masallaci community, Tangaza Local Government Area, the Chief of Army Staff urged the people of the community to always provide accurate and timely information to the troops to help them in the fight against insecurity.
He said, “I am here to see my soldiers, assess their state of readiness, and encourage them to continue doing what they do best to secure the country.”

Commenting on the presence of the new terror group “Lukaraw,” the Army Chief reiterated that challenges will always arise, but the key issue is how to respond to these challenges.
“That is why I am here to see my people and prepare them for the challenge, and that is what we shall do.”
“Let me call on the community to continue supporting us. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and if we don’t have their support, we cannot succeed, meaning the country will not be secure.”
“We need the support of Nigerians so that we can achieve economic prosperity in the country.”
The Chief of Army Staff also visited troops in the Illela Local Government Area of the state, where he held a meeting with officers of the Battalion.
He also met with other sister security agencies, where he emphasized the need to work in synergy.
