Between January and November 2021, a total of 84 people have been killed while 939 others were variously injured in Gombe State as a result of a total of 350 road accidents that occurred across the state.
The disclosure was made by the Gombe State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) in statistical information signed by the Sector Commander, Ishaku Gabmi Ibrahim copies of which were released to correspondents in Gombe.
According to him, the accidents involved 1,548 passengers saying that out of the figure, only 525 escaped unhurt.
The Sector Commander who gave a breakdown of the casualties revealed that from January to March, 102 accidents were recorded with 32 deaths and 298 injuries.
Also, between April and June, he stated that there were 32 deaths, 319 injured victims as well as 16 deaths, and 269 injured victims from July to September.
Ishaku Gabmi also said that from October to November, a total of four people were killed, 53 wounded in 22 different crashes in the state.
He then appealed to all road users to be ambassadors of road safety and obey all safety guidelines in order to avoid loss of lives to crashes.
The Sector Commander also advised drivers to avoid night travels considering the nature of the roads, avoid excessive speeding, overloading, and use of worn-out tyres in order to minimize crashes and the resulting outcome.
He also cautioned road users to adhere strictly to all traffic rules during this Yuletide period when traffic is heavy on all the roads.
