THE Police on Friday arraigned three middle-aged men before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged possession of weapons.
The defendants – Ochanni Joseph, Raymond Kakaan and Ayila Ijir, are all residents of Alagbado in Lagos.
They are being charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons to which they pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Peter Nwangwu, the defendants committed the offence on July 8, 2015, at about 9:00 p.m. at Alagbado, a Lagos suburb.
Nwangwu alleged that the defendants were caught with one AK 47 rifle, two barre-ta pistols and eight rounds of ammunition.
He told the court that police operatives, acting on intelligence report, swooped on the suspects in their hideout and they could not give a satisfactory account of how they got the weapons.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 330 (d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Yewande Aje-Afunwa, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N400, 000 each with two sureties each.
Aje-Afunwa said the sureties should be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payments to the State Government.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 8, for mention.
