A 28-year-old mother of one, Sadiya Mohammad, who was abducted last week Thursday in Maitumbi Community in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State has been set free by abductors in the early hours of Thursday in Minna, the state capital.
This is coming barely one week after the victim was kidnapped by yet unknown persons at about 12:00 pm last week Thursday shortly after she closed from work at a private school said to be owned by her parents.
Tribune Online gathered that her abduction occurred while returning to Airport Quarters, in Minna metropolis in Chanchaga Local Government Area of the state. She regained her freedom after spending about seven days in captivity.
A family source informed our reporter that the 28- year-old Sadiya regained her freedom allegedly after several telephone contacts with the kidnappers who were said to have threatened her family members that she would be killed if they were not paid N10 million as ransom.
The source who craved for anonymity in a brief chat with the newsmen on Thursday in Minna, further disclosed that the kidnappers however collected N1 million before she was released.Â
It could be recalled that Sadiya’s sudden disappearance caused concern last Thursday afternoon until about 3:00 pm the following day when her abductors called requesting for a ransom, failure which she would be killed.
Attempts to get the official reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police, DSP Wasiu Abiodun on the matter failed as he did not pick his phone calls nor reply to text messages sent to him by this reporter as of the time of filing this report on Thursday in Minna.
