Broadcasting, entertainment enliven the heart —Iya Afin
United Kingdom-based Nigerian broadcaster, Omobolanle Oluwatoyin Famakinde, popularly called Iya Afin, has revealed that her love for broadcasting is innate as it is also a good means of indepth entertainment and communication, lifting people out of dullness and giving healing to the broken-hearted souls.
Iya Afin made this known at the weekend, adding that broadcasting and entertainment enliven the heart, soul and spirit of listeners/viewers in all ramifications, just as it helps gladdens the hearts of others.
The graduate of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke and mother of three has become one of the sought-after broadcasters in the industry with her brand in the United Kingdom and various online radio stations, as her fans base on air continued to soar, especially over her passion in the promotion of the culture and tradition of Yoruba through her cultured-riched programme entitled: ‘Oyin Nii.’
On her choice of Yoruba language in broadcasting in the new media in UK, she said: Yoruba language is universally acceptable as I was born in Ile Ife, my dad is from Edo State while my mum is from Ibadan, Oyo State. Also, Yoruba language must not be allowed to die, likewise other indigenous languages.”
