Sokoto lawmakers pledge to support Tambuwal
The Sokoto state house of Assembly has assured one hundred per cent support to the executive arm of government for the progress and development of the state.
The newly elected speaker of the state house of Assembly Rt hon. Aminu Mohammed Achida gave the assurance when he led members of the house on a courtesy visit to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at government house Sokoto.
Achida, who spoke on behalf of the members thanked Governor Tambuwal for the support and assistance he has been rendering to the legislature in the state
Hon. Aminu Achida, while praising the peaceful conduct of the election that led to their emergence as leaders of the Ninth Assembly, further assured that interest of the state would be uppermost in the performance of their legislative duties.
He, however, stressed the need for collaborative efforts between the two arms of government with a view to further uplifting the state to the highest level.
Receiving the speaker and members of the house, Governor Tambuwal, congratulated the speaker and entire members on their election and wished them a successful tenure in office.
He assured the entire 30 members of the house that they would be carried along without any discrimination on the basis of party affiliation.
He, therefore, reminded them as elected representatives of their various constituencies, they are expected to work assiduously for the progress and development of the state.
He further explained that the election of the House leadership has no doubt confirmed the fact that politics has progressed in Sokoto state.
According to him, “what obtained in the election of House leaders in Sokoto is history that is repeating itself because a similar incident occurred in 1979 where then NPP produced Senate president and ruling NPN produced Deputy senate president” he added.
Tambuwal further said that the same scenario unfolded during the immediate past Senate leadership in the country.
