The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the commencement of medical screening and immunisation for all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, as part of efforts to ensure a safe and hitch-free pilgrimage.

The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this known while supervising activities at the Hajj Training Centre in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

He said the exercise will begin on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Pilgrims Camp Clinic located within the Hajj Camp in Kano.

Represented by the Director of Propagation, Education and Enlightenment, Alhaji Murtala Lawan Sani, the Director-General emphasised the need for strict compliance with the Board’s guidelines throughout the process to guarantee smooth Hajj operations.

He explained that the exercise will include comprehensive medical screening, routine immunisation and pregnancy tests for female pilgrims.

According to him, the measures are designed to safeguard the health of pilgrims and ensure adherence to international health regulations governing the pilgrimage.

Matawalle also underscored the importance of the Hajj induction course, urging intending pilgrims to pay close attention to instructors in order to properly understand the procedures for performing religious rites in the Holy Land.

He further advised pilgrims to strictly adhere to their assigned flight schedules and remain within their designated groups based on their respective local government areas to enhance coordination and organisation during the pilgrimage.

As part of its monitoring activities, the Board’s delegation visited Gwarzo and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas to assess the level of preparedness and ensure compliance with laid-down guidelines.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a smooth and successful Hajj exercise for all intending pilgrims from Kano State.
