As part of the build-up for 2023 General Election, the National Rescue Movement (NRM), has fixed its National Convention for Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in Abuja.
Recall that following the dissolution of the Executive Committees at all levels of the Party structure (Polling units, Wards, Local Government, State and National), a National Caretaker Committee of the Party was constituted in December 2021.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, NRM Caretaker Committe, Surveyor Usman Abubakar Jikamshi and NRM Caretaker National Publicity Secretary, Chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee, NRM National Convention Planning Committee, Prince Chinedu Obi.
The statement said the Caretaker Committee was saddled with the responsibilities of running the affairs of the party, including conducting State Congresses and National Convention, where Officers that will run the Party for the next four years at all levels would be elected. Accordingly, following the successful completion of congresses at the Polling Unit, Wards, Local Government Areas and States, the NRM is set for the National Convention in Abuja.
The party said the event would begin with accreditation of delegates at 9.00am prompt, and the convention will witness a large turnout of party delegates and dignitaries from different parts of the country and the Diaspora.
“It will also be noted that in the party’s quest towards rescuing Nigeria from its current poor governance state, the NRM has in the last few months, engaged in mobilization and sensitization of like minds across the country, towards building a third force to salvage the nation.
“The outcome of these strategic engagements, is the overwhelming fusion of several political Associations and support groups into the National Rescue Movement. One of the fusing groups, is the National Democratic Mandate Group (NDMG), a well grounded grassroots political Association with members spread across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
“The NRM believes that a successful convention on Wednesday and the subsequent engagements with Nigerians will reposition the party in its task of RESCUING NIGERIA in 2023,” the statement added.
