Supporters of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been called upon not to allow INEC, the Police and other security agencies to deprive them of their votes in the 2019 general elections.
The call was made by the national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus who said that Nigerians must not allow the Nigeria Police nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to intimidate them before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
Uche Secondus and other PDP bigwigs make the call during the Flagg off of the North-East Zonal campaign rally of the party held at the Gombe Township Stadium on Tuesday during which the party’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, expressed confidence that victory is sure for the party but largely depending on the resilience of the PDP supporters in the face of the desperation by the unpopular ruling All Progressive Party (APC), to remain in power.
The rally, which also saw the presentation of the party’s flags to all its governorship candidates in the six States of the North-East by Uche Secondus, also witnessed a large turnout of PDP supporters from across the zone.
Other speakers at the rally who drummed support and loyalty to the party include former National Chairman of the party, Ahmadu Ali, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwerenmadu, Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, former Governor of of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who called on the PDP supporters to vote all its candidates from bottom to the top.
The North-East Zonal Coordinator of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organization and Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, told the people of the zone that the 2019 elections is not about a victory for Atiku Abubakar alone but for the entire Northeast.
He then thanked all those that contributed to the success of the rally which was held despite the bad weather that affected flights landing at the Gombe International Airport.
