LAWMAKER representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency in Kano state in the House of Representatives, Honourable Abdulmumuni Jibril has declared that the presidential ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was a threat to the stability of the country.
Speaking with newsmen on Monday, Honourable Jibril who is the Director, Media and Strategic Communication of the APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign team noted that a victory for the PDP presidential candidate would keep the presidency in the North for twelve years. The federal lawmaker asked the former vice-president to commit himself to an undertaking of a term of four years if he was sincere of power shift to the south
He said: ” Now, as sensitive as this matter is, we have people in the opposition PDP contesting for the presidency and the party itself, they decided to incite the North against a section of the country, insisting that the southern part of the country shouldn’t have its fair share. I mentioned it, that’s why the presidential candidate of the PDP has refused to commit to one term.

It is surprising, just to commit and say, if I win, I will serve one term, because, from 2023, it is the turn of the southern part of the country to have the presidency. If you ask him to commit, he would avoid it. Since he won the party ticket, what has stopped him from so doing? Maybe he doesn’t believe in it, he wants to give the southern part of the country a Goodluck Jonathan treatment so that when the time comes, he will tell you there wasn’t any agreement.
We are looking at that as an issue that is already creating instability and it is one of the biggest threat to the stability of this country. If such people who are trying to muzzle the North to return to power in 2023 and that’s the agenda of the PDP and of course, their presidential candidate. So, it is up to the southern part of the country to ask them questions. Where has the south offended them, that what belongs to them they want to corner it again?
But the APC believes in fairness, justice and for us, power will go to the southern part of the country.”
Reacting to agitation by the southwest and southeast for the 2023 presidential ticket of the APC the federal lawmaker from Kano state declared that the ticket would be open to all geopolitical zones in the southern part of the country.
“Every region in the southern part of the country is entitled to it. The South-South is qualified, the South-East is qualified, the South-West is qualified but then it is your contribution, it is your ability to negotiate within the party system, it is the value you add that will determine where power will go.
I think this has sent an instructive message to all of us, we are all feeling relaxed because we are talking within the circle of a party that believes in fairness and justice in this country. By 2023, power will go to the southern section of this country. That is the position of the APC. “
