A governorship aspirant in Ogun State, in the 2019 general elections, Mr Jimi Lawal, said he would not drop his aspiration to contest for the position, despite the declaration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to support the Ogun West Senatorial District in producing his successor.
He said no one can stop him from becoming the next governor and that the governorship was not the sole right of the people of Yewa-Awori extraction.
Lawal explained that he is most qualified among all the aspirants that had so far indicated interest in the seat, considering his experiences in the political and business world.
He said, “If Governor Amosun wants me to be governor and God doesn’t want me to be governor, I will not make it. (But) if God wants me to be and Governor Amosun does not want me to be governor, can he stop it? That’s why I’m in this race.”

Lawal commended Governor Amosun for all achievements recorded so far and promising to consolidate on these if voted into power on May 29,2019.
He explained that his administration would explore the abundance of bitumen and limestone deposited in the State to boost its economy.
“Governor Amosun has done extremely well and I can say that he is best of all the governors the State has produced since creation in 1976 while Chief Bisi Onabanjo is close to him. We can do a lot. Olokola is a goldmine which must be tapped to boost the economic base of the State,” he added.
