20 best students get scholarships in Ogun

Twenty best students out of 420 who partook in an examination organised by a foundation, House of Emmanuels in Abeokuta, Ogun State have been given scholarships.

The scholarship covers all their educational expenses, including school uniforms, bags, and materials needed during their senior secondary school education and their West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.

Founder of the foundation, Oluwasegun Emmanuel, noted that the gesture emphasises the foundation’s commitment to education, financial literacy, and vocational training in order to foster community progress.

“We have a mission and objective at the House of Emmanuels. We believe in empowerment, education, financial literacy, well-being and many other things.

“The students who participated in the examination were 420 students, but we picked the best 20. We are going to cover all their expenses, rainging from school uniform, school bags and everything that has to do with the students from SSS1 through to West Africa Senior School Examination and Council (WASSCE) period. The best overall student will be presented with the best award as well.”

Also speaking at the event, the president of the Rotary Club of Abeokuta, Motunrayo Adijat-Adeleye, highlighted the importance of supporting brilliant students whose parents struggle to pay their school fees.

She, therefore, encouraged beneficiaries of the scholarships to remain diligent and dedicated by fostering a spirit of excellence that would motivate sponsors to continue to support them.
