6,000 ADP members join ZLP in Ondo
AHEAD of the 2019 general election, the camp of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ondo State on Wednesday, suffered a set back as about 6,000 members of the party in the State defected to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The leader of the group, Hon. Ibine Obolo said they decided to join the train of the ZLP because the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed the people of the State and country in terms of delivering the dividend of democracy.
He said the defectors cut across the six local government areas in the southern senatorial districts of the State.
The decampee also said that the sun had finally set for the opposition party in the state and promised to ensure smooth sail for the ZLP victory in the forthcoming general election.
He called on the leadership of the party to accommodate the new members in order to give them a sense of belonging to ensure victory for the party.
Obolo said: “With a large number of defectors into the ZLP, it automatically signalled the death of both PDP and APC in the region.
Receiving the new entrants, the Chairman of ZLP in the state, Hon Wale Gbakinro, assured the defectors a level playing ground and equal opportunities in the party.
He said: “We are confident of pulling the rug off the feet of the other political parties. There is no doubt Zenith Labour Party well position for the coming election
Also speaking, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Love Olawumi, urged all aggrieved members of APC and PDP to join the moving train of the ZLP.
