$1.5b secured by FG to revive Ajaokuta steel complex ― Management

The management of the Ajaokuta steel company has said that $1.5b secured by the Federal Government will revive Ajaokuta steel complex.

The Sole Administrator of the steel company, Engr. Ismaila Aka’aba who disclosed this in Ajaokuta, while briefing newsmen on the level of job on the rehabilitation of the Metallurgical Training School of the company said that management and workers are excited by the positive development.

He said that the entire workers and management of the company are happy with the assurances given by the Russian Government and the commitment of President Buhari towards injecting life into the plant.

The federal government recently declared that it has secured about $1. 460 billion for the completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Mills in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

The development signifies what could become an effective end to the over 40 year-delay in the completion of the multi-billion dollar project.

The Minister of Mining and Steel Development, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite had disclosed this in Abuja last week.

Speaking further, The Sole Administrator stressed that when Ajaokuta becomes operational, it would propel Nigeria into the class of the industrialized nations of the world.

This he noted was aside the thousands of employment opportunities that the company would generate for the teeming unemployed youths of Nigeria, as well as generate huge foreign exchange and broadened the revenue base of the country.

In addition, he assured that the training school would also offer world-class training for the Young ones in engineering and crafts, saying that this will help the country to attain sufficiency in the provision of middle manpower needed in the manufacturing industries.

He called on the people and workers of the steel plant to support the president’s efforts of the federal government to revive the company by being more dedicated to their duties.
