OVER sixty young political leaders will meet at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on Tuesday with a mandate to reflect and x-ray fundamental issues confronting the involvement and inclusion of young Nigerians in the country democratic process.
According to the organiser, the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum (NYPF), the underlying essence of the second roundtable meeting is for Young Political Leaders (YPL) who are seen as future custodians and key stakeholders in the democratic process to brainstorm and chart a collective course for the good of the country.
The group opined that the gathering, which will be addressed by Senator Mustapha Bukar, Senator Ben Bruce, Senator Shehu Sani and Senator Bassey Albart among others will seek to create an unending path to the socio political development in building of a stronger and better democratic nation.
“Top of the Agenda of this strategic meeting includes non-inclusion of young Nigerians in the political and economic process of the country. Ensuring more young Nigerians begin to actively participate in politics at all levels as we move towards 2019. Ensuring young people stop mortgaging their future as regards the growing menace of financial inducement for votes by politicians.
“Proper political networking and collaborations of all young political leaders and groups across the country. Strategic engagement of Young Political Leaders in safeguarding our democracy and giving support to the Not too young to run campaign,” noted Moses Siloko Siasia, the convener and founder of NYPF.
Siasia added that the roundtable meeting will be attended by over 60 carefully selected young political leaders in the country and across party divides, who are expected to create networks and processes as a contribution to the future entrenchment of the right democratic practices.
