The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has sought media collaboration in fighting the menace of child malnutrition in Nigeria.
The UNICEF Media Specialist, Mr Geoffery Njoku, made the call at a two-day media dialogue on child malnutrition organised for journalists in Yola on Wednesday.
The dialogue was in conjunction with Child Rights Information Bureau (CRIB) of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and had “Investing in Child Malnutrition for the Future” as its theme.
Njoku said the dialogue was aimed at intimating reporters on the state of malnutrition in the country.
According to him, the menace of child malnutrition in the country needs serious attention from stakeholders to give children a better future.
He added that “we are here to solicit and provide you with knowledge to support advocacy for child malnutrition in Nigeria, especially in the North East.
“We also want to acquaint you with facts and figures on the level of malnutrition in the country.
“But most importantly, we are here to seek your collaboration and support to ensure that malnutrition among children in Nigeria is nipped in the bud.”
