The Nigerian Army said that it killed six terrorists in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno during an operation to dislodge the remnant of Boko Haram insurgents in the state.
Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, the Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement in Maiduguri on Wednesday, disclosed that the insurgents were killed on Monday
“Troops of 22 Brigade Dikwa under 7 Division of Operation LAFIA DOLE in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), ambushed suspected Boko Haram terrorists between Bulabirin and Mongole villages in the area.
“During the encounter, the troops neutralised six terrorists, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries,” it revealed.
Kukasheka explained that the troops recovered six bicycles, three dane guns and one machete from the insurgents.
He reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to sustain the tempo and clear unrepentant Boko Haram insurgents from the shores of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Tthe 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, Operation Lafiya Dole, has arrested two fleeing suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Sasawa village, Yobe.
A statement issued in Damaturu on Wednesday by Capt. George Okupe, the Brigade spokesman, said Kiri Imoru and Tijjani Goni were arrested fleeing the insurgents hideout.
“The two terrorists claimed to escape from a hideout at Futchumaram in Geidam Local Government Area” the statement added.
The statement also said the 159 Battalion of the Task Force has immunized 1,227 children against polio in 13 villages in Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe.
It said the immunization exercise was in addition to medical aid provided by the brigade to various communities under its community service scheme.
