The Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde (Fele), has reacted to the media report where Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (Tokyo) claimed to be the Oyo State chairman of the union.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, Oyerinde maintained that he is the bonafide chairman of NURTW, just as he urged members of the union to disregard the purported claim.
Oyerinde, who is also the South West chairman of NURTW, declared that the court judgment was explicit.
“The court order Alhaji Tokyo was referring to was not in his favour, but in favour of NURTW and I don’t know why he is still referring to himself as the chairman of the union. He should allow peace to reign.
“He’s a joker and he’s not a member of the union anymore.
When you are not a member, how can you be the chairman of that body or union? I’m the incumbent chairman of the Oyo State NURTW.
“The judgment in question was pertaining to the proscription and deproscription of the union by the Alao-Akala administration.
“Alhaji Tokyo is not the chairman of the NURTW and no more a member of NURTW in Nigeria as I said and he should come out and prove it if truly he’s a member of the union. He has been sent away from the union, he has no judgment to lay claim to.
“He should stop inciting the public falsely.
