From Contrary to reports in a section of the media on Saturday, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) did not raid the Abuja office of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) but only stationed its men to forestall further tampering with documents by some officials of the commission.
A DSS source told Sunday Tribune that intelligence at the disposal of the secret police indicated that some vital documents were being doctored and backdated by some official of the commission following the change of guard at the office.
President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Thursday, sacked Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu as PenCom boss, replacing her with Aliyu Dikko.
The source said the need to prevent further falsification and backdating of documents informed the detailing of a standby team of DSS operatives to arrest unlawful altering of documents or circumvention of due process.
“We had intelligence information that some documents are being tampered with. Some documents are being signed and backdated at the PenCom office following the announcement of a new management of the commission.
“We are only being pro-active by ordering all officials there to stop forthwith any action on official documents pending when the new management will assume duty,” the source said.
