How staff stole First Bank’s N1.1m —Police

A 27-year-old First Bank Plc staff, Osunremi Temidayo was on Tuesday, charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court over an alleged theft of N1.1 million, from the bank.

The defendant who resides at 34, Post Office Road, Mushin, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Corporal Kolade Tedunjaiye, told the court that the defendant and others who are yet to be found committed the alleged offences between August 2015 and February 2016. She said that the money stolen by the defendant belongs to First Bank of Nigeria Plc. and that the theft took place at First Bank mobile bank road at Ajegunle, during working hours.

According to the prosecutor the offence committed is punishable under sections 409 and 285 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2011.

However, Temitayo pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomuko admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

She said that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment clearance and their addresses verified by the court.

The case has been adjourned till August 8, for mention.
