SECURITY operatives, Wednesday evening, laid siege on the house belonging to a brother-in-law to former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, sources close to the former leader confirmed to Premium Times.
The house is located in Maitama, Abuja.
Spokespersons of the headquarters and Abuja command of the police said they were not aware of the operation, but security sources confirmed that police officers in uniform carried out the raid.
According to sources, the operatives searched all the rooms in the house.
The house was allegedly bought for her brother by Patience Jonathan, who was said to be in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when the raid occurred on Wednesday.
Although Mrs Jonathan had been having a running battle with the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over the ownership of a controversial $15 million, sources at the commission said the EFCC did not carry out the raid.
Meanwhile, the anti-graft agency, on Wednesday, denied any involvement in the alleged raid on the residence of an ex-First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Head, Media and Publicity of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, told the Nigerian Tribune on phone that if there was anything like a raid on the residence of the former First Lady, EFCC was not involved in it.
According to Uwujaren, “We are not aware of anything like that (raid on her residence). If there was anything like that, our operatives are not involved.”
