•Meet behind closed door
THE Mpu country home of the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Saturday, became a Mecca of some sort, as politicians across the country converged on the community to celebrate the 50th birthday of his wife, Lady Nnenna Ekweremadu.
Among the dignitaries were the Senate President Bukola Saraki; Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his Ebonyi State counterpart, Dave Umahi.
Also at the occasion were senators Obinna Ogba and Mao Ohuabunwa; Chukwuka Utazi, Gil Nnaji, and Chief Anayo Onwegbu.
Although the gathering was meant to felicitate with Ekweremadu, it was learnt that some of the politicians in attendance used the opportunity to meditate on the issues affecting political parties in the country.
It was not however clear if the meeting resolved on political realignments ahead of the 2019 general election, which would be a test case for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Curiously, most of the top shots at the occasion were of the PDP stable.
Prior to the event, the Special Media to Senator Ekweremau, Luke Mgbo in his invitation. said that journalists should drop their papers and pens and come as guests to the occasion.
