Restructuring of Nigeria inevitable —Civil society

A Civil  Society group has emphasised that restructuring of the country is the only solution to the current plethora of problems in the country.

The Coalition of Civil Societies Movement for Good Governance made the disclosure at the weekend, that government could no longer handle the situation in the country as it were, insisting that the only way out is the restructuring of the country.

The national coordinator of the group, Comrade Ajibade Oyayeye told newsmen in Abuja, at the week-end, that if Chief Obafemi Awolowo was around by now, he would have given maximum support to restructuring the country, adding that all his policies in the South West  were geared towards achievement of this political ideology.

Oyayeye enjoined the present administration to talk to the people, saying government should not take decisions on how the country would be run without consulting with the people.

He informed that though the government is trying its best, the most important thing to the common man is how food would get to their table.

According to him “Nigerians embrace the change mantra immediately because they thought he could change their lives, but presently things are not normal. “He is fighting corruption that is good but there are other things to be looked into. Fighting corruption alone  would not put food on the table as people are hungry.

“There are many things which are begging for attention like the economy.       “There is urgent need to look for professionals that can adequately take care of the economy, people who would later proffer solutions to the issues of health, security and three square meals for the people on a daily basis. Also the budget which was recently signed by the president, we want quick implementation.”
