Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said there would be a major shake-up in the Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), operators of the mass transit buses in the state.
He said this was part of the state government’s efforts at restructuring and re-engineering the public service for enhanced productivity and increased revenue generation.
Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the Eleyele office of the transport company, the governor said the reorganisation became necessary as a result of the sterile methods in managing the transport service.
While allaying the fears that the state government might intend to lay off members of staff of the company, the governor assured them of government’s readiness to utilise the manpower at its disposal, as long as they exhibit signs of honesty and diligence.
Ajimobi noted that the transport service company needed urgent re-engineering for better productivity and optimal performance, while urging staffers to display better work ethics, honesty and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
Meanwhile, the state government has commended firms and industries in the state for their compliance to the state government’s tax drive.
Addressing the press after today’s Tax Enforcement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Biyi Oloko, said the government was impressed by peoples’ compliance to the new tax drive and large turnout in remittance of revenue to the state coffers.
