On the allegation of the unhealthy rivalry amongst terminal operators at the Tin-Can Island Port in Lagos following the expansion of Ports & Cargo Handling Services (P&CHS) Limited from a majorly container handling terminal to a Roll-On-Roll-Off (RoRo) port terminal facility, the Managing Director of the Ports & Terminal Multi-services Ltd (PTML), Mr Ascanio Russo, has stated that its facility is ready for a healthy competition.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune via a text message, Russo said “there is no friction between PTML and any other terminal operator over RoRo or container operations. We welcome healthy and fair competition as it will lead to improved efficiency and reduce cost for the importers and exporters.
“PTML has been doing container since inception even though people see us as a giant in the RoRo business. We are still handling a substantial share of the container market coming from the Atlantic.
“We don’t have any issue with anybody and are very open to healthy and fair competition.”
