THE Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), on Thursday, presented 100 Computer units with accessories and 1, 334 books on Accounting and Finance to the Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo, a suburb near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Handing over the items to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris, at the institutions’ premises, the Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Dr Bello Aliyu Gusau, said that an effective financial and accounting knowledge was key to proper management of oil and gas resources in Nigeria.
He said that beyond enhancing the ICT and library facilities of the academy, the Fund would, in future, explore the possibility of localising the training of manpower in oil and gas accounting in the institution.
This was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the Head, Press and External Relations Unit of the agency, Mr Kalu Otiti, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja
The academy is an arm of the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation established with the vision to serve as a premier institution for developing human capacity in public finance education and management.
Responding, the Accountant-General, Mr Idris thanked PTDF for extending the training facilities to the academy and expressed optimism that with more engagement with the Fund, the training and capacity building programmes of the institution will be enhanced. He said that the facilities and equipment will aid the transformation of the academy into a world class centre of excellence for the training of public finance managers across the country.
