THE ongoing anti-corruption crusade embarked upon by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration should be embraced by all and sundry.
The way I see the matter, the exercise will be incomplete without extending the probe to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials who served under Professor Attahiru Jega.
INEC officials, particularly those who worked in certain parts of the country during the 2015 general election, were alleged to have been in collusion with some unscrupulous politicians to perpetrate certain evil acts.
They were said to have been offered bribes to bring these unscrupulous politicians back to power through dubious means such as rigging, altering the results of elections already declared and other misdemeanors that should have no place in a democratic clime such as ours. These allegations need to be probed to make our elections better.
Besides, the probe will expose other evil acts perpetrated by the said officials during the last election.
It will also afford the electoral officials currently serving the opportunity to adjust their operations and avoid the mistakes of the past in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities to the people.Ola-Olaniyi Bamgbola, Ibadan, Oyo State.
