THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives on Thursday declared that the country’s judiciary saved the day with its judgement putting an end to the crisis that rocked the party.
Minority Leader, Honourable Leo Ogor who briefed newsmen alongside a number of PDP members in the House, said that the judgement was victory for democracy, noting that, “This shows that the party must be democratic in its internal affairs.”
While sending warning signal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) the caucus said that, “There is vacancy in Aso Rock in 2019. This is an earlier quite notice that they should start packing their loads because we are moving in after our re-organisation.”
Going forward, he said that the party would do everything to strengthen its internal democracy.
Speaking further, he said that, “We are very happy because our crisis which was a major issue for us is now history.”
The caucus however declared that with the Supreme court judgement there “is no victor, no vanquished.”
He also declared that, “We must work to avert the crisis of the past two years. For almost two years, we have not been able to take major decisions.”
On some members of the party that defected while the crisis lasted, he said that, “We have put our differences aside. For our defected brothers, the party is still open to them.”
The caucus, he said would stretch the olive branch to the defected members and ask them to come back home, saying that, “they are like the prodigal son. But for those who refuse to come back the judiciary is out there for them.”
He also said that, presently PDP members are about 141 in number, adding that, those who defected would come back, because “they know too well that APC is an amalgamation of strange bed fellows.”
The Supreme Court in Abuja had on Wednesday set aside the ruling of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt that affirmed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP National Chairman.
