MR Oguanisi Akpusu, a nephew to former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who was arrested by the Bayelsa State police command over an alleged shooting of two persons during a masquerade festival at Emeyal community, in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state, has been released.
He, however, described the incident as accidental shooting, adding that it was not aimed or targeted at the victims.
The arrest was on the heels of a blanket ban on the use of firearms of any kind during festivals in communities.
The state police commissioner, Mr Asuquo Amba, in a media briefing said investigation showed that the shooting was “accidental,” as the victims sustained gunshots in their legs and thigh.
He, however, expressed concern over the rising cases of illegal possession of firearms in some parts of Yenagoa.
