Ahead of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national convention coming up in Abuja soon, the South-West zonal caucus has charged its state chapters to intensify their reconciliation efforts amongst leaders and members in order to bring about a “successful unity convention” in the interest the party.
The party gave the charge in a communique issued at the end of its meeting which took place in Ibadan at the weekend under the leadership of Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe and attended by other key officers of the PDP.
In a 4-point communique, which was signed by Chief Ogundipe and the zonal secretary, Chief Pega Otemolu, the party while commending the PDP National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff for his commitment to the unity and progress of the party, also appreciated the unrelenting support offered to the party in the zone by Senator Buruji Kashamu.
“The meeting commended the National chairman of our great party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and his National Executive Committee members for their commitments to the unity and progress of the party.
“The meeting enjoined the state chapters of the party in the zone to intensify the reconciliation efforts in bringing about a successful unity convention in the interest of our great party generally.
“The meeting appreciated the efforts of the Chairman of the South-West Contact and Mobilization Committee, Senator Buruji Kashamu for his unrelenting support for the party in the zone,” the communique said.
It, therefore, called on party leaders in the zone to make use of the avenue provided to reposition to the PDP for the tasks ahead.
