The crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State took another dimension on Wednesday as some party members loyal to the embattled chairman, Honourable Isaacs Kekemeke, clashed and dislodged the aggrieved members of the party from the party secretariat.
It took the intervention of the officers of the police command to restore sanity at the secretariat after a free-for-all between the supporters of the two factions.
The aggrieved members who sacked the Kekemeke-led executive and sealed off the party office along Oyemekun Road re-converged as early as 7:30a.m. to ensure that the state executive council members led by Kekemeke did not have access into the secretariat.
The aggrieved members, under the aegis of Movement Against Imposition (MAI), had stormed the secretariat on Tuesday and sealed it off, alleging imposition by leadership.
They installed Saka Yusuf Ogunleye as the new acting chairman.
Ogunleye and his group, who sat at the entrance of the secretariat with his supporters waiting to be ushered into the secretariat, took to their heels when some party members came with cudgel, cutlass and dangerous weapons.
Meanwhile, the Woman Leader of the party in Akure South Local Government Area, Mrs Titilope Oparinde, condemned the action of the aggrieved members describing it as unconstitutional.
She said “It will be rude for anyone to wake up and speak against the well constituted state executive. I will therefore ask all APC members who are aggrieved to respect the party and allow peace to reign.”
