Ogun police arrest 3 suspected robbery syndicate members, recover pistol

Three members of a robbery syndicate have been arrested by the anti -robbery team of the Ogun State Police Command.

The arrested suspects, Vincent Onyemachi (26) and Innocent Nnojiofor (27), were said to have terrorised  the residents of Ota area of the state in recent times.

Their arrest was made possible following a distress call from members of Onigbongbo community in Atan Ota area to the Police attached to Onipanu Division.

According to a statement by the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Baba Maiyaki, immediately swung into action.

The robbers and the police were reported to have engaged in gun duel during  which one of the robbers sustained bullet injury while two others were arrested.

A Berretta pistol with batch number 1000568 with four rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspects.

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ilyasu had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at the command headquarters for further investigation.

Similarly, the Sagamu Division of the command arrested one Michael Okafor for being in possession of military uniform, one locally made pistol and a parcel suspected to be Indian hemp.

However, two suspected members of his gang are at large.

The PPRO, Oyeyemi, said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect was arrested during a police routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer of Sagamu, SP Moses Aduroja, while conducting a stop-and-search on vehicles and their drivers.
