Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, has charged the newly inaugurated members of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to deliver on its core mandate of bringing about policies that will develop the region.
He said that the ministry will not interfere in the day to day running of the commission but will only play a supervisory role in line with its mandate.
The minister reminded the board that part of the mandates of the commission was to ascertain measures necessary to promote physical and socio-economic development of the region.
He said the NDDC was also set up to implement all the measures approved for the development of the region by the federal government and the states of the commission.
Speaking, chairman of the board, Senator Ndoma Egba pledged that the board will work in line with the Act establishing it to achieve its primary objective of developing and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
