ARRANGEMENTS have been concluded by the Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in collaboration with the Kwara State Musabaqah Committee, to host the 31st edition of the National Qur’an Recitation Competition, which holds between today (Friday) and Saturday, 11 February, 2017, in Ilorin.
President Muhammadu Buhari; the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar; the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II and Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, are among dignitaries expected at the opening ceremony slated for the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the event, Justice Idris Haroon (retd), the competition, which will feature participants from about 30 states of the federation, will hold at the main auditorium of Al-Hikmah University.
Justice Haroon, who is a former Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, said the closing ceremony, where laurels would be given to winners of the different categories of the competition, would hold at the Metropolitan Square on February 11.
The LOC chairman appealed to the people of Kwara State to be hospitable to the participating states and be law abiding for a successful hosting of the competition.
