Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Musa Bello, has given assurance that his administration will make funds available to complete the multi-million naira Abaji water project.
He also assured that his administration would work towards the completion of some of the on-going projects of the defunct Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in satellite towns of the territory.
He, however, said that reports made available to him contrasted with what was on ground regarding the Abaji water project.
Speaking while exchanging views with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess AdejokeOrelepe-Adefulire in his office, the minister said that from the reports made available to him, most of the works at the project site were already completed, especially as about 90 per cent payments were made on the project.
He however acknowledged that the initial challenges faced on the project were within the framework of funding.
“Apparently there were challenges. Some others did not pay on time as they were supposed to pay,” the minister said.
Bello told his guest that, “we will partner with you and have this project completed within the available resources and any other projects that are outstanding. We will prioritize and see how we move on; we need to showcase what a Federal Government agency is able to do here in Abuja so that we can use it as a benchmark and we can also use it as a means of putting pressure on states to comply with your requirements.”
Speaking earlier, the presidential aide stated that Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets were set last year to build on the achievements recorded on the MDGs.
