How land title can transform villagers’ life style, eradicate crisis —Surveyor

Incessant cases of land grabbing that have been leading to loss of lives and properties in some states across the country and communal clashes associated with land matters may be eradicated without propagating draconian laws that may not be sustainable.

In an interaction with a Lagos-based Surveyor, last week, Oluropo Olajugba, Head, Lordsfield Limited, said effective land administration that is technologically based will not only eliminate crises involving land matters, but would also make it easier for government to provide titles for land owners at a reasonable time frame, especially in the villages where people traditionally holds the land without evidence of the size and boundary of such lands.

According to Olajugba, “it’s time for governments, both at the state and federal levels to invest massively on infrastructure of mapping, and open offices in all the local government within their domain where land owners cases would be attended to.”

According to him, with such development, each family will be in possession of their lands, rather than be at risk to the would-be trespassers.
