SIERRA Leone’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Major-General Nelson Williams, kidnapped last Friday, while on a trip to Kaduna, has regained his freedom.
Sources confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune, on Tuesday, that he had been released by his kidnappers, and had gone back to his office in Abuja.
The former head of the Sierra Leonian army was abducted by assailants while heading for a function at the Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The Nigerian Tribune learnt that his kidnappers had contacted the Sierra Leonian Embassy in Abuja, and demanded for a ransom of N44 million (about $150,000) for his release.
However, it was not clear whether any ransom was paid before his release.
