Arsenal look close to finalising the transfer of long-term target Kelechi Nwakali as he arrives in London to assess and sign his contract.
The Nigerian wonderkid has long been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, and his club have now confirmed he’s on his way to England for the final stage of negotiations.
It remains to be seen if the 18-year-old midfielder will go straight into Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans, or if, more likely, he will head out on loan to gain experience first.
‘Kelechi and Allwell Nwakali are in London now, they arrived on Monday,’ ASJ Academy CEO Emeka Amajiriaku told All Nigeria Soccer.
‘They are there to see the contract that has been offered by Arsenal.
‘Arsenal will determine if he will go on loan or play for the U18s, U21s or first team. We cannot determine that.’
This will do little to appease Arsenal fans crying out for more established signings this summer, with only unproven youngsters coming in so far, apart from big-money buy Granit Xhaka.
