Reacting to the suspension of the SGF and the NIA, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State maintained that the money recovered from the Osborne Tower in Ikoyi belongs to Rivers State government.
He also insisted that the said recovered funds were proceeds of the sale of the state gas turbines by the immediate past Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The governor, in a statement on Wednesday by his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, restated that the state government would take all necessary legal steps to ensure that the said recovered funds were returned to the coffers of the state for the execution of more projects for the people.
He said he had also taken the matter to God, as he urged Christians to pray that God touches the heart of the Federal Government to return the recovered funds.
The governor expressed optimism that Rivers State government would soon take possession of the resources, noting that there were clear facts that the said funds belong to the state.
It would be recalled that the governor told newsmen that investigations by the Rivers State government showed that the money in question belong to the Rivers State government.
