POPULAR oil magnate, Ifeanyi Uba, has debunked speculations that he was arrested by operatives of Department of State Services (DSS).
There were reports that Ifeanyi Ubah was quizzed by operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Department of State Security.
Uba denied the arrest, saying “If I am arrested, I would not be talking with you now. They should continue writing, but those who are in doubt should come and watch football match tomorrow because I would be there.”
Efforts by Tribune Online to reconfirm the whereabouts of the Anambra State politician cum businessman also led to Iba denying the claim.
The Capital Oil boss said that he was in Abuja for a meeting with officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja on Thursday evening.
One of the aides of the Capital Oil boss, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with Uba also denied that his boss was arrested by the DSS.
He however did not confirm if his boss was invited and later released by the security operatives.
The aid said “I can tell you that my boss’ good name in the country today cannot be smeared. He is a hardworking businessman. All these propaganda about him is because he has become a big force to be reckoned with in Nigeria.”
Efforts by Tribune Online to get the reaction of the Lagos Command of the DSS failed as our reporter was directed to the national headquarters in Abuja for any confirmation.
