An academic with bias for agriculture, Dr Steve Ross Omisore, who studied in Russia has introduced what he termed ‘Russian agricultural concept’ in Osun State which is aimed at producing various agricultural products in large quantity for both local consumption and transport to other parts of the country.
Operating under the platform of Ajebamidele investment farm, Dr Omisore who, in collaboration with members of his team, has cultivated acres of land for products like yam, maize, vegetable, cocoyam, banana, platain and cassava among others at Abija community, via Gbogan, Osun state, noted that large scale farming is an issue that cannot be toyed with all over the world.
He said his resolve to introduce the concept in Nigeria was sequel to huge success he recorded in Russia during his stay there in spite of the fact that the type of agriculture he embarked upon over there was not a large scale one.
“I have had the opportunity of living in many countries of the world. In every country I lived, I took to agriculture and the result was always impressive. That was why I said if it was possible for me to make people smile in those countries, I should be able to do better here in Nigeria and make Nigerians happy,” he stressed.
He stated that produce in different segments of the farm were at advanced stage for both local consumption and transport to other parts of the country.
