I have been under treatment for the past few months for Diabetes with drugs and diet. I want to know if I can take part in the Ramadan fasting which is to commence in a few days time.

You can fast as long as your diabetes is well controlled. Before you commence fasting, see your doctor so that he can help to adjust your drugs and diet to cope with the fasting which you want to commence. It is also advised that diabetics carry with them cubes of sugar or sweets which they must take immediately if they feel like fainting. Islam allows anybody who is ill to abstain from fasting.
